ABOUT JOHN ALDAG
Driven, Proven, Progressive
Get to know me, and how delivered results for Cloverdale - Langley City.
Hi, I’m John 👋🏼
I’m a proud husband and father of three who grew up on a farm on the prairies.
There, I learned the value of kindness and hard work, and how in life, family and community mean everything.
As a young man, I followed my passions for our environment, history, and public service when I began a career with Parks Canada. For over 30 years, I led parks, historic sites, and programs in eight provinces and territories - where I had the privilege of experiencing Canada’s diverse history, breathtaking geography, rich culture, and proud traditions.
Wherever life took me, I brought my core values of hope, hard work and family. In 2005, I chose the place closest to my heart - our community - to call home, and raise a family.
In 2012, I was forced to lay off most of our researchers and scientists at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, as a result of Conservative policies. The Harper government’s contempt for science put the Canada I knew, and loved, at risk.
My commitment to protecting our progress led me to run for public office - and in 2015, I was elected Member of Parliament for Cloverdale-Langley City.
Over 4 years, I proudly represented our diverse and growing community, securing federal support for families, seniors, local businesses and new Canadians to ensure everyone had a more equitable chance at success.
For two years I was not in the Parliament, I watched our community struggle, and continue to listen to families, seniors and local businesses to better understand their needs so I can put them first.
As we emerge from COVID-19, we need strong leadership to build a better, stronger and more resilient community.
I’m grateful for your support so we could move forward, together.
